Abstract: |
During the medieval period it was thought that there was a small settlement at the junction of what later became the High Street and Kentish Town Road, though no physical evidence has confirmed this. The site lay within an Archaeological Priority Area, the definition of which was based on the cartographic evidence of the J Rocque Map of 1769, at which date the site lay within a field. The streets around the site were laid out and developed during the first three decades of the 19th century and the site was built on by 1834. The late 19th-century building contains a basement that was likely to have removed any deposits of archaeological significance.[Au(abr)] |
