Abstract: |
<summary>Evaluation trenches were excavated on a site proposed for development which included an area of visible earthworks protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The excavations revealed ditches and walled boundaries of Late Saxon and medieval date, overlain by a series of 17th-18th century ditched enclosures and late 18th or 19th century field boundaries. A large circular feature, initially revealed on a geophysical survey, may have been a ring-ditch surrounding a prehistoric burial mound. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
