Abstract: |
A watching brief during the excavation of foundation trenches for two dwellings on land to the west of Mill Street and to the south of Jenkinson Lane recorded a deposits of brown clay overlying chalk rubble and cobbles over most of the development area. The deposit was interpreted as a deliberate infilling of an old pond, measuring approximately 22m in diameter, and recorded on the 1885 Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map. [Au(adp)] |
