Abstract: |
No known archaeological remains lay within the immediate study area, though the site was believed to lie within the town closes of the medieval village. In addition, Roman material was well-attested in the Willingham area. Recent excavations to the east of the site revealed elements of earlier Saxon settlement of the village. Historic cartographic sources suggested that the site had remained in use as arable land and subsequently orchards for at least the last few hundred years. [Au] |
