Abstract: |
Rapid magnetic scanning followed by selected detailed gradiometer survey was undertaken on land west of Elstow Bypass. Scanning showed that the magnetic background of the site could be divided into a very 'quiet' northern half and an exceptionally disturbed southern half. Isolated positive responses were identified at the north end of the site which may have been caused b archaeological features, although a geological or modern origin was thought to be more likely. At the southern end of the site magnetic disturbance associated with the former allotments precluded the identification of any archaeological anomalies. [Au(abr)] |
