Abstract: |
An archaeological desk based assessment and fieldwalking survey was undertaken on land which lay within the historic township of Halewood. The area formed part of a landscape known to be of archaeological importance, previous survey work having identified a possible moated site. Pottery from the Roman, medieval and post-medieval periods was discovered , as well as worked flint dating from the Mesolithic and Late Neolithic / Early Bronze Age. The presence of a minor cropmark, representing a probable ditch in the vicinity of the main Roman pottery scatter was also noted. Further archaeological evaluation work was recommended. [AIP] |
