Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the construction of two detached houses. Investigations were undertaken because the site lay at the western edge of the medieval settlement. A probable field boundary ditch, containing 18th and 19th century pottery was the only archaeological feature observed. Further 19th century pottery and brick fragments were recovered from subsoil and topsoil deposits. The absence of any earlier archaeological remains at the site suggested that it lay beyond the limit of the medieval and early post-medieval settlement of Donington. [Au(abr)] |
