Abstract:		 British Gas informed the City of Hereford Archaeology Unit of proposals for a new pipeline at the St Owen's Street end of Ledbury Road early in 1993. The proposed course - which would have cut directly across the site of a 12th century round church of the Knights' Templar, unearthed in 1927 was re-routed following discussions with CHAU staff at a site meeting in June. The realigned trenches were examined by archaeologists and, although there was little modern disturbance, no features of archaeological importance were exposed. ("The change of route had obviously been successful in helping to preserve this nationally important site.")[AIP]
