Abstract: |
The corridor of a pipeline was examined after topsoil stripping, and a small quantity of prehistoric worked flints were recovered. The pipeline ran along the southern edge of Dunsmore, a prehistoric landscape where sites dating from the Neolithic to the Iron Age had been recorded. Settlements with medieval origins lay in the surrounding area. The pipeline crossed two areas of ridge and furrow, one of which was well-preserved; these were visible as earthworks and as features beneath the topsoil. A late medieval or post-medieval horseshoe was found during the watching brief, and post-medieval finds were observed but not collected along the length of the pipeline. [AIP] |
