Abstract: |
<summary>The survey collected a range of material from the late 13th century to the recent past, and noted the observations of earlier scholars of the history of the town. General documentary survival was not good, and it was difficult to tie down to specific modern locations. However, it showed that the block in question had been occupied for over 600 years, and pointed to the possibility that remains of the Roman Wall, an important early Saxon residence, and the 13th century manor house of Pandon Hall may have survived beneath later medieval build-up and intensive tenementing. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
