Abstract: |
Alterations to berths and the positioning of a crane were proposed by Swan Hunter. As an archaeological response to the proposals a limited desk based assessment was undertaken. The berths were considered unlikely to effect any deposits of archaeological importance, however the crane was to be positioned above the Branch Wall, the section of the Roman Hadrian's Wall stretching from the Wallsend fort to the waterline. It was recommended that if the crane was positioned where indicated an archaeological excavation should be undertaken. [AIP] |
