Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site within the early medieval Lundenwic Archaeological Priority Area was undertaken. A small number of palaeolithic, neolithic and Roman artefacts had been found in the vicinity, and possible prehistoric features had been recorded. The routes of two Roman roads passed through the area. Several early medieval occupation sites had been excavated nearby, whilst a loomweight had been found on the site itself in 1954-5. It was concluded that an evaluation should be carried out. [AIP] |
