Abstract: |
Six small evaluation trenches were excavated in the eastern and northern parts of the area. Two clay-lined pits and three small ditches were found in the south-eastern part of the site and appeared to be associated with Late Iron Age salt working activity. Similar evidence had been recovered previously found in the adjacent areas to the west and north-east. No evidence was recovered to determine the relationship with the Roman military 'fort' or supply base which lay in this part of the Hamworthy peninsula. [Au(abr)] |
