Abstract: |
The sea lock, was a Scheduled Ancient Monument (Cornwall No.912) and a Listed Building (Grade II). The lock was constructed between 1819 and 1821. The lock continued in operation until 1904 when a combined storm and high tide destroyed the inner gates. Since then damage has occured in 1961 and 1996, rendering the locks inoperable. In 2000, North Devon County Council undertook the restoration of the Sea Lock.[Au(abr)] |
