Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the consolidation and reconstruction of three sections of boundary wall within the boundary of the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Jervaulx Cistercian Abbey. Twenty construction stones were found and recorded. A fragment of roll moulding was found within the wall boundaries indicating that the wall post-dated the monastic precinct. The same footings were used for the roadways suggesting that they may have been constructed at the same time. The road had undergone at least two phases of modern rebuild. [Au(adp)] |
