Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was made of 82 hectares of land on Colne Fen, proposed for gravel quarrying. A study of written evidence, aerial photographs, maps and a collection of artefacts was made. Several archaeological excavations had been undertaken within the limits of the study area, and the reports of their findings were also looked at. Extensive prehistoric and Romano-British settlement and farming remains were recorded. [AIP] |
