Abstract: |
A series of trenches were excavated in the grounds of Newman House prior to the commencement of building works. These failed to produce any evidence of either a tumulus (BSE 004), located during construction work in the 19th century or the site of public executions, known to be locatd in the vicinity until the 18th century. The topsoil cover was well preserved and the potential for archaeology elsewhere on the site remained high. [Au] |
