Abstract: |
Eight evaluation trenches were excavated around the site of New Hall, the demolished 16th century aristocratic house in the area proposed for development, and in fields to the north. The trenches around the site of New Hall revealed walls and floors of the demolished house and associated buildings; and evidence of terracing and revetment walls in gardens. A pit, and ditches or a hollow-way forming a possible field system were found in the trenches excavated to the north. [AIP] |
