Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring over a period of two years (1996 - 1998) of groundworks on the Tollgate Farm housing development site confirmed some of the results from an earlier archaeological evaluation. Limited evidence for medieval activity was identified in the form of a low density scatter of pottery and isolated ditch features. This was consistent with a level of activity that could be expected on the periphery of a medieval settlement with its known location on the edge of a medieval green. The low density of Iron Age/Roman finds recorded during the previous evaluation was not evident during the monitoring. [Au] |
