| Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of foundation trenches for an extension, at a site which lay within a Local Area of Archaeological Importance. Earlier investigations in the vicinity had recorded evidence of Roman activity, possible medieval agricultural soils and post-medieval artefacts. During the watching brief, early modern and modern layers overlying a possibly natural deposit were observed. No artefacts were recovered, although the presence of slate and early modern or modern brick fragments was noted. [AIP] |
