Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken consisting of documentary research, excavation, standing building recording and dendrochronological sampling. The date of construction of the Grade II* Listed Cruck Barn was established by dendrochronology as c.1425, supporting stylistic evidence for an early 15th century date recorded during the standing building survey. Internal excavation revealed a 19th century brick floor surface which appeared to have destroyed any earlier deposits related to the barn. External excavations revealed a series of deposits of post-medieval date, probably related to a phase of ground level raising within the farm yard. [Au(abr)] |
