Abstract: |
Excavations were undertaken for periods of six weeks in 1995 and 1996 just to the east of the main Palace at Fishbourne. Masonry walls had been located by Alec Down in 1983 and the excavations of 1995 and 1996 uncovered more of the walls, leading to the recovery of the complete plan of a courtyard building from which a reconstruction drawing was made. Other phases of activity ranging from early timber buildings to abandonment and robbing of masonry were recognised. [AIP] |
