Abstract: |
The site lay within one of the richest areas of prehistoric activity in Devon. Bronze Age barrows were the most numerous prehistoric feature in the Torridge district, with c.180 barrows and ring ditches recorded through the area. Within the vicinity of the site itself two barrows were identified on the exsting golf course. Both East Yagland and Marshall were of medieval origin, though very little was revealed about the nature or extent of these settlements. However it appeared that this area was securely settled by the medieval period.[Au(abr)] |
