Abstract: |
The site consisted of an area of land immediately to the northeast of the current A19/A1237 roundabout. The site lay north of the historic core of the City of York and outside of the Area of Archaeological Importance. The evaluation comprised the excavation of a series of interlinked trenches covering a total area of 250 linear metres of trench 2m in width. The evaluation revealed no archaeological features, deposits or artefacts. Nothing was observed that was deemed to be of environmental significance and no environmental samples were taken.
