Abstract: |
During the course of the evaluation no further evidence for Later Neolithic or Bronze Age activity was discovered, and it was probable that a pair of ditches tentatively assigned a Beaker date, in fact belonged to the Roman period. During the Roman period, the site lay outside the main area of the late Roman settlement known on Boscombe Down. Part of the site was occupied by a small ditched enclosure that formed part of an extensive system of "Celtic fields". The other ditches were likely to be of Romano-British date, but did not form part of this regular enclosure system.[Au(abr)] |
