Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of a proposed development site identified that a small number of Palaeolithic and Mesolithic flint artefacts had been found in the surrounding area, but that these were unlikely to have been in situ at the time of discovery. Saxon pottery had been found at one site in the vicinity. The proposal site had lain within open agricultural land in the medieval and post-medieval periods, and had first been developed during the Second World War. It was noted that the impact of 20th century development on the site was likely to have been severe, so that in situ archaeological remains were unlikely to be present. No further archaeological work was recommended. [AIP] |
