Abstract: |
Previous evaluations on the site had revealed evidence for the survival of deposits from the medieval and early post-medieval periods. The present excavation uncovered the complex development history of timber framed structures within which metalworking appeared to have taken place. The structural history of the buildings was unravelled and the character of occupation in the immediate area was investigated. In so doing the development of the site from the 13th to the 20th century was traced. The finds were rich in evidence of metalworking and the structural history and industrial residues made interesting comparanda for similar materials previously excavated in the vicnity. [Au] |
