Abstract: |
A field evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of road improvements. Prehistoric worked flints had been found in the general vicinity, and the projected routes of a Roman road and of a medieval lane crossed the site. The only feature encountered was a ditch of uncertain date. A sherd of pottery discovered in the backfill of the ditch indicated that it was filled during or after the 16th century. It was concluded that the proposed works would not affect significant archaeological remains. [AIP] |
