Abstract: |
Seven test pits, five 2m by 2m, and two 2m by 4m were excavated by both hand and machine inside the Albion Works building. The evaluation demonstrated that significant archaeological deposits relating to the foundry phase existed throughout the building. Surviving structures identified included the brick machinery bases, brick flues, floors and internal partitions. The pre-foundry deposits consisted mainly of dumps and cultivation soils of post-medieval date. [Au(abr)] |
