Abstract: |
Archaeological evaluation was undertaken in advance of residential development. The site lay north of the town, at the north end of Kilburn Road. Prehistoric artefacts, a post-medieval brickworks, a well and a windmill were located in the vicinity. Geotechnical test pits were examined and five evaluation trenches were excavated. Extensive modern clearance features and dumped deposits were revealed. However, no archaeological remains dating any earlier than the post-medieval period were encountered. [Au(abr)] |
