Abstract: |
Two trenches excavated to evaluate land proposed for a service area on the M4 motorway to the north of Wotton Bassett revealed no archaeological features. Sieving of topsoil from each trench however recovered two sherds of Romano-British pottery and three sherds of possible Late Iron Age/early Romano-British pottery, as well as small amounts of animal bone, fired clay and ceramic building materials.
