Abstract: |
The location of the site on the side of the Thames in the vicinity of the findspots of prehistoric stone tools and Bronze Age metalwork, raised the potential for the presence of a prehistoric settlement. However, large, deep sewers on the site may have removed parts of some archaeologically relevant levels. A field evaluation was recommended, along with a survey of the Victorian pumping station on the site before demolition. The pumping station building and chimney tower on the site were Listed and so were to be retained within the new development.[Au(adp)] |
