Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken during works associated without the removal and replacement of a kissing gate, and the construction of a length of post and rail fencing. No significant archaeological deposits were recorded during the watching brief, although a large dressed stone block with a rounded depression in the surface was noticed in the relict field boundary to the west of the milecastle. The stone was likely to have been a socket for the hinge post of one of the pair of doors in the south gate of the milecastle. [Au(abr)] |
