Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken due a planning condition prior to the proposed construction of several residential blocks. The site was located within a Priority Archaeological Zone as defined in the Newham Unitary Development Plan. The site was thought to have had a low archaeological or palaeo-environmental potential for all past periods of human activity. In particular, any geo-archaeological evaluation was likely to replicate the results from the former Alcan Works site to the west. The site appeared to have been developed as a scrap-yard from c.1916 onwards and so it was not thought to have any significant potential for industrial heritage. For these reasons the proposed development was extremely unlikely to have had an archaeological impact. [Au(adp)] |
