Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment confirmed evidence of early coal mining in the form of earthworks in woodland within the development area. Other than these there is no direct evidence of archaeological sites within the proposed development area and substantial areas have been previously destroyed by opencast mining and buried by tipping. However, the remainder of the site had not been systematically surveyed and it was suggested that such a systematic survey would be required to fully understand the impact of proposed development.
