Abstract:
A watching brief was carried out during excavations for the construction of a swimming pool. Silt deposits which may have derived from the decay of medieval timber buildings had been observed at a site 200m to the north. However, no archaeological deposits or artefacts were observed during the watching brief. It was concluded that no medieval buildings lay in the area of the swimming pool, and that the area had lain either between tofts or outside the medieval settlement altogether. [Au(abr)]
