Abstract: |
A two-staged evaluation was undertaken of an area of land proposed for a landfill site. The first stage, comprising fieldwalking, recovered a small amount of Neolithic/Bronze Age worked flint, three sherds of Romano-British pottery, and relatively dense scatters of medieval pottery of mostly 13th and 14th century date. The second phase, comprising the excavation of trial trenches, revealed an old ploughsoil containing Romano-British and medieval pottery and two linear features, one of which comprised a gully from which fragments of Romano-British greyware were recovered.
