Abstract: |
Following the discovery of a human skull during construction works for the conversion of an old Dovecote to provided facilities for the Bowls Club, archaeological recording was undertaken. The skeleton lay in a red silty clay overlain by the concrete floor of the dovecote. When fully excavated the skeleton, probably a female between 20 and 30 years of age, was seen in an extended position aligned north-south along the trench. It was not possible to establish whether the location of the burial and the dovecote was coincidental or intentional and thus impossible to identify the antiquity of the burial. [AIP] |
