Abstract: |
The site was thought to have little archaeological potential for the prehistoric period, but good potential for the recovery of Roman remains, as well as those of the Saxon-medieval periods. Rainham was thought to be a royal estate centre at this time. It was believed that the site was occupied by a vicarage from at least the early twelfth century. This was present until the Second World War. There were variable post depositional impacts at the site, which may have affected preservation. An archaeological evaluation was recommended. [u(adp)] |
