Abstract: |
The assessment identified at least fifty sites of potential archaeological interest. These ranged from possible prehistoric occupational sites to C19th industrial sites. A significant number of Domesday and medieval sites were on, or immediately adjacent to, the route, as were field systems and boundaries dating from the Bronze age onwards.\nIn addition, three features requiring conservation were identified within the scheme corridor: a C12th motte and bailey castle, a medieval stone cross and the C16th Plymouth Leat.\n |
