Abstract: |
The assessment site was not located in a Priority Archaeological Area as defined by the Local Planning Authority. However, the site was located in close proximity to two such zones and to the historic Marble Hill House and Park. The assessment determined that the site had a low to moderate archaeological potential for the Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age and a low archaeological potential for all other periods of past human activity. Previous land use impacts could be characterised as severe. In particular the construction of the existing buildings and car park was likely to have removed the bulk of any archaeological deposits that may have been present. Because of the extent of past post depositional impacts it was considered unlikely that the proposed development would have any significant archaeological impact. [Au(abr)] |
