Abstract: |
Archaeological recording was carried out following the discovery of a well during groundworks relating to barn conversions. The well was stone lined with hand-finished sandstone blocks, and featured a metal pipe which apparently ran into a barn, where it was connected by an electric pump to a water tank which fed water troughs in the barn. The well had not been backfilled, but had been covered with old railway sleepers. No dating evidence for its construction was recovered. [Au(abr)] |
