Desk-based assessment of land around Junction 24 of the M1 identified that a number of potential and known archaeological sites, including Neolithic and Bronze Age flint scatters and cropmarks, land divisions of probable Iron Age or Romano-British date associated with occupation to the north of the proposal area, a possible Roman road, areas of ridge and furrow cultivation mostly now only visible as soilmarks, and the site of a possible medieval or post-medieval rabbit warren.
