Abstract: |
A series of monitoring visits were made during the groundworks phase on the site. Little positive information was collected relating to the topography and archaeological deposits on the site becuase ground conditions made the excavation of conventional foundations an extremely difficult exercise. In the end it proved that a collection of pottery finds from the site was the most useful part of the monitoring. The assemblage from the site indicated an early medieval presence ((11th/12th century) followed by low level activity through the medieval period proper and intense activity in the late medieval and early post-medieval eras.
