Abstract: |
The assessment site was thought to have an extremely good potential for features and finds of the later prehistoric periods, specifically the Neolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age. Buried prehistoric land surfaces and palaeochannels could occur beneath alluvial deposits associated with the River Wandle. The site had a moderate potential for features or finds of the Anglo-Saxon or early medieval periods. The site had a moderate potential for features or finds of the later medieval period. The survival of any archaeological deposits on site was likely to have been compromised on the south-east, east and north of the site by past development. New footings and services for the proposed development could potentially have a severe localised impact on any underlying archaeological strata. In conclusion the site had been shown to have a moderate to good archaeological potential for a number of past periods. [Au(abr)] |
