Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during a programme of repairs to a church, and groundworks within the churchyard. Foundations of former 12th century walls within the nave, together with intra-mural medieval burials and post-medieval floor alterations, were recorded. Within the churchyard, a substantial make-up deposit which contained medieval floor tiles, pottery, nails, bone, stone and snail shells was recorded. Undated burials comprising a mixture of articulated and disarticulated remains were revealed, and a post-medieval rubble spread was identified. [AIP] |
