Abstract: |
Archaeological excavation was undertaken following the discovery of significant archaeological remains during the course of an archaeological watching brief maintainedi in connection with the construction of two reservoirs to the east of the new golf course. Results from the excavation indicated settlement on the site during the period from the 1st to 4th centuries. Evidence of cereal cultivation and processing, the keeping of cattle and sheep and small scale industrial activity (working or ready smelted iron) was identified. [AIP] |
