The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 The site produced evidence for human activities dating back to the medieval period. There was much evidence remaining of a 19th century hotel building. Some of the structures encountered may well have been associated with a 17th century inn building, but that was impossible to ascertain. Although medieval features were somewhat scant compared to the evidence of later periods obtained, they nevertheless confirmed that the site enjoyed human activities during Lydney's formative stage of development and it was important that they were considered in this light. A further strand of important evidence collected during the excavations was that for industrial activities and the preliminary identification of technological residues obtained from numerous contexts on the site would throw light on the nature of those activities, and perhaps, the approximate date of when they took place.
