Abstract: |
An evaluation involving resistivity and magnetometer surveys, trial trenching and test-pitting was carried out within two areas in Bolsover. Both areas contained substantial earthworks which probably represented parts of the medieval town defences. No features of archaeological interest were recorded during any of the components of the evaluation, and artefacts recovered from the test-pits were all of post-medieval date. It was thought locally that a Victorian fair had been held on the site. [AIP] |
