Abstract: |
The watching brief identified a consistent layer of dark humic soil over the whole of the site, extending southwards as the present garden soil. It contained fragments of china and glass, but no earlier artefacts were found. This layer overlay a clay which merged downwards into a brown silty clay forming the top of the geological sequences in this area. There was no evidence of any features such as pits or ditches cut into the clay. [Au(abr)] |
